Keeping Your Skin Hydrated in the Winter

This winter weather is so disrespectful to our skin…but there are a few things you can do to maintain healthy, moisturized skin during the harsh winter months.

  1. Don’t heat it up.  I know there ain’t nothing like a long hot shower at the end of the day, but hot water is not good for your skin.  It can dehydrate the skin, causing your skin to be dry and irritation.   Instead of a long hot shower, opt for a warm shower that lasts no more than 10 minutes.  And when washing up during your warm shower, use soaps with natural butters and oils to keep your skin from drying out.
  2. Make it a routine. Having a regular skincare routine and drinking enough water everyday is key to keeping your skin healthy and hydrated.  Don't forget your hands in your skincare routine.  Lather them up with some AromaShea whipped body butter and cover them with some warm gloves to keep them soft and protected from the dry winter air.  Lastly, include sunscreen as part of your daily skincare routine, everyday.
  3. Scrub It Down. Body scrubs have so many benefits.  One is that they exfoliate your skin, removing dead skin cells which allow for your moisturizers to absorb better.  And when you think about scrubs, don’t forget your lips.  Check out our exfoliating lip brush and certified organic lip balms.
