How to Select a Natural SPF

Did you know that although our beautiful skin is kissed by the sun, too much lovin'  can damage it!

Yes, too much unprotected sun exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause serious skin damage.  So protect your skin this summer with a natural SPF.

Here are four things to look for when shopping for a natural sun protectant.

1. Zinc Oxide and/or Titanium Oxide should be the only active ingredients
2. Make sure it's Broad Spectrum
3. It doesn't have any questionable ingredients like phthalates, parabens, or synthetic fragrances.
4. SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor.  The number beside it indicates how well the sunscreen protects skin against sunburn.

Unrefined shea butter has been used since ancient times as a sunscreen, and has a natural SPF of about 7!  While it may not be enough protection, it does provide some and can be used in combination with something else.
